I wanted to gain more confidence in my writing and I'm so grateful I did this course. I think it was very detailed and covered to perfection. One-on-one feedback was highly needed at this time.

The assignments I think were very interesting. They made me look at my own writing from a new perspective, something I might not have learned on my own.

The course broke down comprehensive learning modules into bite-sized chunks easy to recall and to apply.

The feedback from Bernadette was clear, concise and offered points of difference as well as other valuable tips to really market, position and grow the business.

The engagement with other learners made this a fun experience.

I was fascinated by the techniques used to examine crime scenes and the types of forensic analysts that could be called upon.

I understand a lot more about the types of evidence that can be collected, and what I could potentially incorporate in my writing.

Great insights into how to structure different types of novels.

It was easy to understand and listen to the tutor. They sounded like they knew what they were doing and gave positive, constructive feedback, not just negative. I feel I've learnt a lot from the feedback given by the tutor.

The tutor didn't deliver the audio in a way that sounded like they were reading off a script. They injected humour into the talks and supplied examples. I liked how easy it was to listen in and learn.

Hearing the feedback from my first assignment was an awesome moment. I had no confidence that my character would be received well but hearing someone else voice what I had been trying to convey about the character was a big learning moment for me.

Strongly recommend. AWC tutors are friendly and know their stuff. If you're serious about writing, it's worth it.

I enjoyed the writing. The assignments, with deadlines, were great incentives for me to stop dithering and actually write. And the writing bit was fun, and the sense of achievement that came with that made it enjoyable.

What a lot of information you have fitted into a five-week course. I think I will have to go back and listen through it all again. And it's a great bonus that I can do that.

I have found the practical, professional and industry related elements of the course to be really helpful, and not something I've found before, even in my studies for a degree in illustration. The whole publishing world has always seemed such a distant, mysterious and impossible world to crack in to; I am really hopeful that this course has brought me closer to an understanding of the industry, and if I can get a foot in the door and begin working on my lifelong dream of making picture books, thanks to this course (I say dreamily & optimistically), I will be a very happy chappy indeed.

It's given me hope... I just hope I can cling on to that and actually get somewhere this time.

It was a highly professional, industry standard, bloody helpful, massive amount of information. And if you want to learn lots, I would highly recommend doing this course. In fact, I already have been recommending it. And I'm extremely grateful that it came recommended to me in the first place. I'm hoping it will be a game changer. Fingers crossed.

Angela sounded very knowledgeable yet friendly in the audio recording. I appreciated her feedback; it was clearly stated and made sense.

I liked that we could all see each other's work and could comment on it. The feedback was interesting and really helpful.

I knew there were different writing genres (crime, romance, thriller, etc) but the concept that creative writing had styles, points of view, even a few rules was very enlightening. I'm an avid reader of fiction but never noticed these things before, just simply got swept up in the story. Now, as I'm reading, I'm noticing not just what is written but also how it has been written.

I learned a lot and think it is well worth the time and money.

I needed some general hints on creative writing as I've done very little of it but find it such fun. It's something I used to do when young. I was worried about putting myself out there in front of other students - but I found this course very non-threatening and welcoming.

Angela was lovely and encouraging.

It has shown me how much I enjoy writing, whether or not I have any talent. It has opened me up to the possibilities.

The course is a good introduction to creative writing in a non-threatening and accepting forum.

I thought it was perfect. I went from self-doubt and low confidence to believing I can do this. It fired me up to feel that I can accomplish a dream

If you ever want to put your story to paper you need to look at AWC for a clear path that you can follow. I spent too long wondering if I could be a writer when I should have taken this step long ago.

I enjoyed it. Angela was really encouraging and gave personalised feedback.

The assignment was my favourite. A clear task and feedback. I didn't realise how little attention I paid to tense before.

It was great. We get all the technical info but are left to explore our imagination.

I enjoyed listening to Valerie's professional but relatable content. Now I have the foundation to create blogs without having to 're-invent the wheel.' I feel more confident.

It's perfect if you have a thirst for learning something new in an engaging way.

It has been a long-time dream to write novels for children. After reading through the course outline this seemed an excellent place to help me get started.

Pamela gave succinct feedback that was easy to understand and made perfect sense. Each week I came away with food for thought on how I could improve my writing.

This is a great course to get you started on the road to writing children's novels. From opening scenes to character and plot development, it's got it all covered. And the feedback is awesome!

I found the content so thorough, helpful and relevant - a lot has changed in the world and in writing for children since I first started learning and writing for this audience.

Pamela was wonderful, generous and encouraging to everyone. Her feedback was insightful and helpful. She really was an amazing tutor and made everyone feel so at ease and encouraged.

I enjoyed the writing exercises and feedback the most.

If you're interested in writing, just do it! The AWC provides a great supportive environment and you will learn so much.

I was delighted with my progress. Despite having to have 5 days off due to life, I still wrote over 10,000 words. I really needed the accountability that came with purchasing the course and fulfilling the requirements. I couldn't be happier.

It has spurred me on to get the job done rather than sit in the doldrums thinking 'I must get to writing.... oh I must get to writing...'

Every course I've ever done with AWC has been outstanding value for money and exceptional material. I recommend AWC all the time.

I'm so very impressed with what Scrivener offers and what I can do with it. Natasha did a great job of introducing its key features and making sense of it. I can't wait to try it out!!!

The best part of this course was finding out all the features of Scrivener which will make my life as a writer so much easier. It may even improve my writing! Who knows :-) It will, I'm sure, help me to organise and structure my writing in a way that I haven't been able to (easily) so far. I'm a pantser and so my writing practice tends to be rather chaotic.

AWC offers so many useful, great courses. You have to see for yourself!

Being able to read the work submitted by other students (and to listen to the feedback they received) was very helpful. It was great to build a rapport with the other students, as we encouraged each other and offered suggestions.

Suzanne was marvellous, and readily answered any questions. Her feedback was specific, timely, and helpful.

I've realised I want to write children's picture books :)

The range of resources and courses on offer is amazing. The tutors are knowledgeable and supportive. I also highly recommend the 'So You Want to be a Writer' podcast.

The detailed course materials unpacked the style of writing that is required in a picture book with sets of exercises.

Suzanne was a very positive and astute tutor. Her feedback was helpful and insightful. She was very prompt in giving feedback and constructive criticism.

I enjoyed the challenge of meeting the criteria set out for writing a successful picture book. It gave me confidence to write for children.

Excellent resources and realistic advice given regarding the publishing industry.

I enjoyed the written exercises and assignments, the concise resources in regards to all aspects of writing, illustrating and getting published, and the links to industry and further associations in the children's picture books world.

The course covers every aspect of writing and illustrating a children's picture book, from the beginning to getting published. I have more confidence in my writing and the formatting recipe to write a better and more engaging narrative for children.

It's a brilliant course!

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep up with the workload…but it was not only enjoyable but very manageable - even when I had a week with a 'sick' household.

Suzanne was great! Hearing her feedback on my work (as well as the work of others) was clear, constructive and encouraging. Such a help in pinpointing what to address in your next draft.

I really did enjoy everything! I looked forward to the modules, course chats and feedback each week. And in doing this course, I also discovered the podcast and blog of AWC 👌

Such a helpful course! Less intimidating than doing face to face and yet the feedback is sharp and helps you target areas to work on and improve your writing.

I've tried Scrivener before and found the interface very overwhelming. I was looking to understand what I was missing.

This course was exactly what I needed to understand and start using Scrivener. Natasha presented a complex system in such an accessible and practical way. It cut through the noise and overwhelm and has set me in the right direction.

AWC has the best courses, structured to put theory to practical use right away and delivered in an engaging and encouraging way.

I really enjoyed the course and found the course material and feedback gave me the tools I need to go out in the world of freelance writing with confidence.

Valerie's delivery of the modules is excellent; she is personable yet professional and delivers harsh lessons we need in a way that is well received (was by me). Vivienne's feedback was honest and inspiring. It showed me what I was doing wrong but also reinforced what I do well.

The course gave me the confidence I need to go out and pitch my own articles, and to know how to refine the articles so they might be commissioned.
