My undergrad is English literature. Business English is very different to story writing, and this was made very clear over the two mornings. The inverted pyramid literally flips my background on its head. However it makes perfect sense.

Grant was a very approachable trainer and certainly knew his subject. His background in journalism made him a very believable teacher.

It was an enjoyable few hours. I certainly learnt a few things that will help me moving forwards. The course is a very good introduction to business writing.

I have been meaning to write on how to help organisations recruit more women into leadership, and I thought this course was what I was waiting for, having undertaken three courses with AWC already.

The podcasts were so practical and relatable to my lifestyle. I am very motivated to complete this book for which I have 10,000 words already.

I am now on my way, firmly determined to complete my book on how businesses can recruit more women into leadership.

They know how to get you there so just go for it with AWC!

The online tutor Vivienne was absolutely wonderful. She exuded calmness and warmth in her welcome video and consistently gave useful, constructive criticism using the 'psychological sandwich' approach (positive comment, constructive comment, positive comment). Vivienne acknowledged every student's comments by liking them and responding to them. When I asked a couple of questions in the chat section the responses that I received were really comprehensive and helpful. Vivienne was also generous in sharing personal anecdotes about her freelance writing journey where appropriate. Just a wonderful, wonderful tutor.

The course was well paced and accessible. The materials were of a high quality. I liked listening to Valerie's audio in each module. She goes through the materials in a comprehensive and engaging way and often uses humour to illustrate or emphasise certain points, which I loved. Valerie is generous about what she knows and extremely positive and encouraging.

I now understand how to write a good hook, the importance of transitions and how to 'show rather than tell'.

What I really appreciated was the idea that you don't have to be the best writer in the world, that what is crucial if you want to be a freelancer is that you are reliable, submit work on time and write to the word count (or a little over).

The AWC freelance writing course is excellent. The course content is of high quality and student learning is scaffolded each week as one module builds on from the next. I cannot speak more highly of our tutor Vivienne who created a warm and safe learning environment from the outset, and who provided feedback on written work which was insightful and constructive. Usually in life I do things the hard way and was researching expensive professional writing degrees before I came across the AWC freelance writing course. I am so glad that I settled on this course because in five short weeks it has given me industry knowledge, practical skills and the confidence to make a start on my freelance writing journey.

Just a truly wonderful course! Thank you.

I most enjoyed the detailed nature of the audio presentations and the helpful handouts. I was especially attracted by the opportunity to receive feedback on my completed story from the course designer, Cathie Tasker, who is so well respected in her field.

It's great to learn new skills after spending months (okay, years) writing my first novel. The change of pace and the satisfaction of seeing a completed work so quickly has really refreshed my writing - and my enthusiasm to keep going.

AWC courses are good value, high quality and great fun. Just sign up and get going!

The course exceeded my expectations. Very clear examples of new concepts, repetition where it was needed, well-structured exercises.

I am feeling much better equipped to write believable dialogue. The part on register made so much sense but I had never thought about how to intentionally express it in my dialogue before.

Whatever you need to make your writing better, whenever you need a firmer theoretical understanding of a concept or technique, AWC has a well-considered, well-paced course for you.

I always wanted to publish my writing... Hence, it felt that the course was appropriate!

The course teaches how to be a published writer on such a great platform. What can be better than this?! The most enjoyable part for me was the course has paved my dream path!

I would definitely recommend people to join a course so that they get to learn from such great people! Thank You Australian Writers' Centre.

I had stalled with my writing in recent years but this course has reignited my love of writing and again I feel the joy of creating new manuscripts.

I loved receiving the feedback in such a timely manner and always edited my text while the feedback was fresh.

This course is well paced and very informative. It will help you polish and fine tune your work.

Thanks to everyone involved and I am so glad I did this course.

This course helped me focus on what I was actually writing, not only the word count. It also helped me realise just how easy it is to write 10,000 + words in such a short time.

I enjoyed logging on and finding the next day's challenge and establishing what works best for myself, like what time of day to write.

I now realise I can do it, it's no longer just a dream, but a reality! It is possible to sit and write 500 words in less than 30 minutes, that the words just roll from my mind to the keyboard.

Do it, don't delay. I have used every excuse under the sun due to fear of failure, not being good enough but this course, and others I have completed, have shown me that it's the process, the joy, discovering one's individual style. Go for it! You never know what may be lurking in that creative pool of yours!

I enjoyed the video presentations by Lesley. There is more to writing chapter books than I had expected and Lesley was able to break it all down and leave me with the notion that I could actually achieve this!!

I have a stronger belief in my own ability to write a chapter book now.

I have previously completed the Creative Writing Stage 1 course which I totally loved as well. Thank you Lesley Gibbes for inspiring me further!

I thought Petronella gave a huge amount of insightful individual feedback which gave the course more depth than I'd expected. I enjoyed reading other's comments on my work. Am now at 50k words and have good direction.

I think there is a lot of information hidden in the audios which I have yet to (re) discover - just need the time to go through all the lessons again.

Great value course that will get you writing regularly and with direction.

I was attracted to this course because of its structure, modules and affordability, and that it was led by an industry expert.

Cathie knows her stuff. She's very approachable, honest, and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I enjoyed everything - the modules that taught me new knowledge, the writing practice, the feedback from Cathie and the other students, and getting to know everyone as a writing community. I now feel as though I've entered the world of writing.

Thank you, AWC, for providing this wonderful course. Thank you to Cathie Tasker for everything I learnt over the course and for your feedback which pushed me forward in my writing career. I look forward to joining the next WYN course.

Carli was knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging. Facilitated great group discussions. I enjoyed examining different types of food writing and discussing these with the group.

Reinforced my plan to change career; it feels more achievable after completing this course.

Great, practical content. Fabulous group tutors. Affordable. I'll be back for more courses!

The course was easy to understand, good length of videos and course overall. Great taste in copywriting which can then lead to other courses. Good handouts. Bernadette is very knowledgeable and easy to watch and understand. Really great communicator. Mark (who was the assessor) was great at explaining his feedback and some tips for improvement.

It really helped me understand what a copywriter does and how I can use my new skills now and in the future. I can look at creating a freelance career which is really exciting. And my own confidence from the first assignment to the last improved immensely.

I have been testing my new skills on my work colleagues and in my day-job work and I have been getting great engagement and feedback. I have always loved writing but this has given me a great understanding of how to hook people and keep them reading. Lots of fun.

Great course, easy to understand, and gain strong skills that can be applied immediately. Don't be afraid of the 'assignments', they are a great way to learn and get feedback for next time, and they aren't time intensive. I never thought I would consider freelance work but now I do. 5 weeks is a reasonable time period to 'study', not too long, not too short, and really practical if you have a young family or working full time. Worth the money.

I enjoy Pamela's presentation style and her deep knowledge of her craft. I feel more confident to look at my characters, using the tools provided in this seminar.

AWC is an excellent place to learn the skills for writing with knowledgeable teachers. There is a huge range of courses to choose from and I like the flexibility to work through these at my own pace.

Thank you for providing really great courses.

Loved gaining the knowledge. I was very pleased that I enrolled. I know I can do this now. I can take the next steps; that inner critic has quietened down.

The course removed doubt from my mind that I could do this. That my stories could be written so others could enjoy them too.

Great course. Easy to understand. All useful information that can be put to use straight away. Learnt lots from other writers and great tools to use.

Showed me the importance of making time to write and it can be done with planning and discipline.

I have to make time on a regular basis. Just get started!!!

What a fantastically presented course! Michelle goes through each step of the process in a really easy to understand manner, and shows you some great examples of author websites (along with suggestions for improvement so you can make yours even better). If you're not comfortable with technology this course covers exactly how to get help in what areas (e.g., website build, design) along with the questions to ask to make sure you get value for money. If you are tech-y then this course also covers how to use a website builder to do it yourself. It really covers all bases and has made me feel excited to jump in and create a website for myself!

Everything is well set out and the course covers everything you could possibly think of.

I recommend the AWC all the time. You have great courses that are chock full of great info, and the teachers are great as well.

The course was fantastic, especially the letter to the editor assignment - this was a great way to get started and grow enthusiasm. The structure was fantastic, and really encouraged my learning.

The tutor was very positive - Vivienne explained sometimes complex topics clearly and well.

I feel more equipped to write opinion pieces and have a much clearer understanding of the process involved.
