This course far exceeded my expectations with content and presentation. It's given me the tools I need to help guide me through my book.

I love the workbook! This is exactly what I need to help me organise my thoughts and plan my novel. It made me realise that I wasn't on the wrong track and I just needed a map to help guide me.

If you want to be a writer, the Australian Writers' Centre has something for EVERYONE!

I enjoy the courses offered by the Australian Writers' Centre and those presented by Kate Forsyth in particular. She is very inspiring.

One of the most important things Kate spoke about was to develop a writing schedule. It is like most things, if you want to do something make time for it in your schedule/diary.

I have enjoyed the courses I have participated in and would recommend the Australian Writers' Centre because there is such a variety of courses to choose from.

Kate is amazing. Her knowledge is, of course, exceptional and she was able to deliver this in a supportive, interesting, and informative way.

I enjoyed Kate's delivery - the way that she presented this wealth of information made it so interesting and inspiring.

I've never been much of a plotter, preferring to write in an intuitive manner. However, Kate has given me a series of tools that allow me to create more structure in my writing while at the same time enhancing and extending my intuitive, discovery style of writing.

Don't hesitate! No matter where you are in your writing journey, there is a course on offer that will help you develop your writing skills and process.

Very useful and hands-on advice about planning a novel. I am inspired to follow the plan and create my own novel.

I found both the theoretical component enjoyable as well as the excellent, practical advice on how to put it into practice.

I finally understand the process of planning.

The Australian Writers' Centre provides excellent courses with amazing authors such as Kate Forsyth, giving some excellent straight forward and accessible advice and the proper tools for getting on with your writing.

I liked the discussion about different types of plots and structures, their purpose and how they worked. This was very useful.

These guys create courses that breakdown the challenge of writing a novel into digestible pieces and allow you to focus on improving your weaknesses rather than making you do a course on everything at once.

The course is so good - it's superb!

I really needed the help that Kate's course has given me. This well-crafted unit sets the novice novelist up with the tools to attack the wilderness within which you can find yourself.

I enjoyed the structure, Kate's magic, her storytelling, dipping into her books. She opens up magical worlds.

As a teacher of English and Literature for many years I have always believed in encouraging my students to believe in themselves. I think words of encouragement and support to believe in yourself as a beginner are so very much needed for the student. It's like visiting Florence - you are overwhelmed with the richness of the visit or the course. It's so magnificent you are overcome with the wealth of knowledge. Thank you so much.

I really found it wonderful. Please try it if you are feeling a little lost and need help. AWC will go out of their way to help you.

The idea of plotting and planning a novel was a big attraction. I've always written whenever inspiration strikes, which often leads to long stretches without creativity. Now, I want to establish a more consistent writing routine.

I love how Kate's deep knowledge of art seamlessly complements her content. Her insights into artists and their paintings often create meaningful connections to the text excerpts we study, whether they relate to the writers themselves or the characters in their stories.

I've learned so much about different narrative structures, plot points, and how to create dramatic tension. Breaking down the novel-writing process into achievable goals, like setting word counts and chapter targets, has made everything feel more manageable. I'm excited to start planning my writing with all this new knowledge!

The Plotting and Planning course offers practical techniques to help you plot your novel from start to finish, all at your own pace. Perfect for any writer looking to master the art of storytelling and ensure their narrative stays compelling. Highly recommended!

I love the way Kate structures her courses and draws on other creative elements like sketches and paintings to underscore the key points in the lesson. She is also very generous with sharing her knowledge on writing and literature and is an inspiration.

The last segments of the course where Kate talks about her writing process was very useful. It's so easy to follow as she breaks everything down into bite size pieces. I will definitely try this approach with a book I am trying to write.

I most enjoyed being exposed to the author's writing process towards the creation of her work, which I deeply enjoy. Kate Forsyth is an excellent speaker, elaborator, teacher. The visual aids add to the illumination.

I have had a long hiatus from writing following having two books published and wanted to refresh my memory and get some inspiration to start writing again.

The structure and length of the videos made the course accessible as it didn't require excessive time commitment. The examples Kate provides are very useful. The way the content kept building on its foundations added a lot of value.

I have a deeper understanding of the different narrative structures - it's great to understand these are conscious choices. I feel like I have the tools to start writing again. I have more confidence to try.

Great way to learn, accessible and the content is challenging without being overwhelming.

I enjoyed the in-depth breakdown of various timelines, chronological or otherwise, multiple voices etc, and of course the examples supplied. Very useful.

It has given me confidence. No matter how effortless that wonderful novel appears to be, someone has sat down and planned it, obeying rules/guidelines (or not). You don't just sit down and write, or not without at least some knowledge of the expectations of both readers and publishers.

Good stuff: you'll have more chance of being published if you enrol in their courses.

Kate Forsyth is enchanting.

The five point plan is logical and achievable. Makes perfect sense. I have been a pantser till now. Plotting allows for measurable points along the journey to completing a story.

A wonderful resource, with so many options for learning. There is something for everyone.

This course was very well structured, thorough, practical and imaginative. I found it inspiring!

It has reignited my desire to write following a personal loss.

It no longer seems quite so daunting to write a novel, now all the steps are known and laid out in manageable segments.

Choose the right course for you and grow yourself as a person, as well as a writer.

I found the visual presentation engaging and succinct. The handouts were essential and fairly comprehensive although I did write all sorts of other information as Kate spoke.

I was lost in a jungle of my own ideas and words. Kate has given me a scaffold to organise and tame.

The courses I have completed have been well targeted to the topic, generous in information and professionally presented.

I needed to know more about plotting. I'm someone who finds my story writing, and I can write great scenes and invent great characters. Sometimes, I write 100,000 words, but nothing happens.

The course had a profound impact on my writing. I love the formula; it's just what I needed, so finally, a lot is happening in my story. Thanks, Kate.

I found I needed help in planning my novel, so I thought this course may help me get some groundwork done, which it has.

I was very impressed with this course. I feel that I am now on track to coming up with the basics for a novel that will actually work. I enjoyed the artwork in the slides and the positivity of the presenter. I feel I can actually achieve my writing goals.

I always thought that plotting would inhibit my creativity, but now I see that the only thing that truly inhibits me is my own self-doubt and the dreaded inner critic.

Go for it as it will change your life.

I enjoyed Kate's passion and enthusiasm for writing and sharing her knowledge and wisdom to help others share her joy in writing and creating.

The course has provided me with the motivation and guideposts to help achieve my goal of completing a novel and better understanding the structure of a novel.

The course was exactly what I needed to help me overcome the sense of overwhelm I was feeling about writing a novel, due to the length of it. It also gave me a much better understanding of the narrative arc and the key elements in the structure of a novel.

Kate's examples were excellent. She was very clear in her explanations, and it was obvious that she was speaking from her own experience as well her extensive knowledge of the structure and elements of fiction writing.

I had always found starting my writing quite daunting and although I really wanted to write a novel, the thought of creating such a large piece of writing was overwhelming. Now, rather than beginning with the terrifying blank page, Kate has given me a structure that gently leads me into my writing in an organised and systematic way. I have a sense of direction about where my story is headed and how I'm going to get there right from the start. I now feel confident that I have the tools to get all the way to the end of the first draft without giving up halfway through, with plenty of space for creativity and embellishment along the way. I feel excited about my writing and I look forward to it every time I sit down to write.

For me it is what I needed most in order to move forward with writing my novel. I have ideas, I know that I can write, I understand characters and scenes and so on, but I just didn't have a 'plan of attack' that worked and was time efficient. This course has given me that plan.

Kim 7 months ago

The sessions were short and digestible and I like that I could go at my own pace. The resources were also very good.

I knew planning was important but I often rushed through it instead of taking my time. The course was a reminder that I can take my time to plan my story and not have to jump right in - the world building is my favorite part of the writing journey so I can spend more time here.

I'd recommend the course. It was informative and professional and easy to follow for new writers and a good reminder for more seasoned writers.

Kate is very easy to follow and is so knowledgeable. She walks the walk, not just talking the talk. She made the structure easier to follow and opened my eyes to what a synopsis is without the fear.

I did not realise I would get to see beautiful artworks and hear so much on myths and fairy tales. I found it really interesting and I now have a new list of books to read.

I can see a way out now. I can plot and plan my way to a better novel.

Set an intention now to do this course.
