COMP CLOSED: ‘Little Puggle’s Song’ by Vikki Conley

This week we have three copies to give away of Little Puggle’s Song – a delightful picture book from Vikki Conley, with illustrations by Hélene Magisson. Vikki has been a professional writer for many years and with multiple titles set to publish in the coming year, she is emerging as a bold new voice in picture books. She previously completed AWC’s popular Writing Picture Books course and you can read more about her journey here.

Little Puggle’s Song centres on a lonely echidna named Puggle – who knows that echidnas cannot sing, but still desperately wants to try. But when he does, no sound comes out. ‘I wish I had my own sound, like all the other animals.‘

This enchanting picture book takes you on a heart-felt journey as Puggle struggles to be something that he can never be, before discovering his ‘song’ in the most unexpected way. It is a celebration of those moments when you fulfill your dreams – about finding your place and overcoming fears.

Australia’s stunning bush landscape and its most lovable animals come together in this delightful lyrical narrative. Brought to life through the brush strokes of renowned illustrator Helene Magisson, this beautifully visual story captures our country’s natural world in a delicate and wondrous way.
